Bayside Community Center works to help ease the struggle for many needy people who live in the Linda Vista Community. Our neighborhoods are filled with residents who desire the opportunity to help themselves. Bayside provides that helping hand.
Several programs, and educational classes are offered through the Bayside Community Center that assist multi-cultural groups from all ages, participating in activities that bring the Linda Vista Community together. When visiting the Bayside Community Center one has an opportunity to experience, and share with individuals from diverse cultures and languages that include Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
Monday through Friday many of our senior residents from the Linda Vista Community gather together for a healthy lunch, enjoying each others company, socializing with joyful conversation, while sharing their wisdom and experiences together. View our Activities and Classes link for further details about the senior lunch, and many other activities and classes offered at the Bayside Community Center.
We encourage people to participate in our programs and services which are designed to strengthen individual potential, while building a healthy active community.
Our History:
In 1932 Bayside Settlement House began providing services to Italian and Portugese fisherman and their families. Now renamed Bayside Community Center, the agency has resided in the heart of the Linda Vista community since 1978 after relocating from Little Italy. For years we have provided emergency services and advocacy to immigrants and refugees who are limited by language, cultural understanding, and knowledge of our existing laws. Bayside Community Center is a collaborative partner with several groups and agencies from the San Diego community.
About Linda Vista
Linda Vista is a 7.5 square mile community located atop a mesa in the north central San Diego area. As an ethnically, racially, socioeconomically, and religiously diverse community, Linda Vista was developed as defense industry housing during World War II. It has primarily remained a working class neighorhood and became the site for the University of San Diego in 1949. Twenty four distinct cultures and thirty eight different languages have become a welcomed, and exciting part of our Linda Vista Community. |
