Serving Seniors
As a community organization with a history of serving San Diego residents for over 90 years it is only natural that we would continue to support and empower our diverse community as they age. That is why our team considers it a special privilege to provide programs and services tailored to the unique needs, aspirations, and abilities of Linda Vista’s senior population.
Senior Lunch Program
The Senior Lunch Program has been a core program at Bayside for decades. Senior Lunch is a congregate lunch program hosted onsite at Bayside where seniors 60 years of age and older gather together for a hot, nutritious meal. It is more than just lunch; it is a space for seniors to gather, connect, and be in community with one another in a welcoming environment. It is not uncommon to hear multiple languages being spoken throughout the lunch at the various tables, exemplifying the diverse Linda Vista community.
Senior Lunch Program is provided Monday through Friday with lunch served at 11:30am, though seniors regularly start arriving closer to 11:00am to grab coffee, tea, and conversation with their fellow seniors. We ask for a $4.00 suggested donation to support JFS, but no one is turned away if they are unable or unwilling to donate. The program is offered in partnership with Jewish Family Service of San Diego, which delivers the individually prepared and packaged meals every morning. Lunch is served on a first come, first served basis. Funding for this program is provided in part through the City of San Diego’s Community Development Block Program, Cushman Foundation, and Alliance Healthcare Foundation, among others.
To register for this program, please contact Rose Ceballos, Director of Programs and Operations, at rose@baysidecc.org or call/text 619-871-4866. All attendees must pre-register before attending. Please be prepared to share a copy of your ID and proof of income at registration. We hope to see you at Senior Lunch!

Senior Tech Basics Classes
We know that learning how to navigate and make use of new technologies can be scary and intimidating process for many seniors. It is our hope that by acquiring a baseline understanding and learning a few basic skills, Linda Vista seniors will retain a level of independence, maintain connections with loved ones, and have more opportunities to exercise their digital citizenship with confidence.
That is why we piloted our Senior Tech Basics class and look forward to resuming the program in 2025! Stay tuned for more information.
Senior Fitness Classes
A major contributing factor to senior’s remaining independent is physical wellness. By maintaining strength, balance, coordination, along with other important aspects of physical fitness, seniors are less likely to suffer from falls or other debilitating circumstances that threaten to limit their independence.
Our Senior Fitness Classes are offered for free every Tuesday and Friday from 9:30-11:00 and are open to the public. Tuesday classes will also feature additional information and activities led by University of San Diego (USD) Nursing student volunteers.
Senior Karaoke
Our seniors love to have fun and what better way to share that feeling than through song! All seniors are welcome to sing, clap, and cheer along at our free monthly Karaoke events hosted the second Thursday of every month from 12:15-1:30.

Helping Seniors Empower Seniors
Senior citizens were severely affected during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting stay-at-home orders for public safety. But that didn’t stop them or us from improving the quality of life for others. Watch how Bayside's Seniors in Action supported other seniors during this difficult time.
